The "nuts and bolts" of telling stories in comic book form. Learn to portray characters with distinctive personalities, facial expressions and body language, in a consistent style in believable settings. Direction, pacing, a sense of "animation," word balloons, page layout and design. Students will illustrate and critique each other's stories. Materials: #2 pencils, porous point pens, sharpie markers, heavy drawing paper, bristol board, erasers, ruler. Watercolor can seem daunting for those who have tried it or want to try it. This is a class designed to help loosen your approach to the medium, feel more capable with the paints, and find out how rewarding it can be. The classes focus on working with water, learning how to mix colors, and understanding the strengths (and weaknesses)of the medium. By the time you finish, I hope you'll be able to really find joy in this very exciting medium. Open to beginners (even those who have never touched the paper with watercolors) to advanced artists (those who want to work on their technique).
